Jessie Pen-Lewis would flip in her grave

After reading the original manuscript of the 1912 version of War on the Saints, I was suprised at the vast amount of changes in this version of the book as well as the "unabridged" version as well! Whitaker House, the publisher, has deleated many of Penn-Lewis' Biblical teachings on Christians and demonization. It is well documented that Christians tody CAN be deminically influenced. It is a shame that Whitaker House has republished this work claiming it to be authentic. To get the full message of what Jessie Penn-Lewis was getting at, you'll have to find a used copy. It will be well worth your time. War on the Saints is the most powerful book in the history Christian literature!

Only the unabridged hardcover version (ISBN: 0913926043) by Thomas E. Lowe Ltd is likey to be the complete book. If you can find the original 1912 edition, all the better.

It is a true story about Pastor Johann Christoph Blumhardt fight against the demonic possession of a member of his Lutheran church in the small Black Forest town of Möttlingen, Germany during the 1840's. War on the Saints was a gift some 20 years ago. It was a battle just to read it. I gave a copy to a spiritual friend who placed it on the dash of his truck, but was able to read only 6 pages within 5 months. This will be the most difficult book you will ever read. The devil does not want to be exposed. When you begin to read you will get sleepy; the phone and the doorbell will ring forever; you'll get a headache; your eyes will blur, you will be supplied with hundreds of "reasonings" that you don't need to read it, etc.

Most Christians are not aware of being in a spiritual war, but God has given us this sweetheart of spiritual warfare, Jesse Penn-Lewis, to whom He has revealed devilish tactics (2 Corinthians 2:11). About the Author
Claudia Christian is an actress, writer, singer, songwriter, director, producer, and voice-over artist. She landed her first TV series at age 18 with NBC’s Berringers and her first studio feature at 20 in the cult hit The Hidden. Christian went on to star in studio pictures such as Clean and Sober with Morgan Freeman and Michael Keaton and in TV shows such as sci-fi megahit Babylon 5. More than 50 films and hundreds of TV shows later, Christian has worked with George Clooney, Sharon Stone, Nicolas Cage, and countless other luminaries. She was the voice for Jaguar cars and Helga Sinclair in Disney’s Atlantis. Christian starred in the new Showtime series Look and was recently seen on NBC’s Grimm.

Morgan Grant Buchanan is an Australian writer of sci-fi and historical fantasy. He has written for comics and film and is currently collaborating with Claudia Christian on Wolf’s Empire, a future Rome sci-fi novel.

A compelling read on many different levels

I am not generally a reader of autobiographies, but being a huge fan of Babylon 5, I thought I would check this one out. I read a sample on my Kindle and was instantly intrigued. Christan writes in a very heart-felt and amusing manner, and you can hear her voice on each page. I was largely unaware of the many ups and downs she has suffered through her career, and it was definitely interesting reading this insight. As a B5 fan, I enjoyed her insights into that experience, even though it was only a small part of the book.

I was completely unaware of the Sinclair Method for alcohol recovery prior to reading this book, which spurred me to do further research on the subject. I know several struggling alcoholics who are not interested in pursuing sobriety through AA for various reasons and have forwarded information about this method to them. Thank you Ms. Christian for lending your insight into alcoholism and offering help for those in need. Hopefully more people can find the help that you were able to.

An amazing life story

Non-put-downable. Admittedly I got the audible version and listened to Claudia read me the story. I went for a beach walk with my head phones in and came back sun burnt because I got so engrossed. Her story is fascinating on so many levels - the tragedies and the successes she has experienced are immense. A true story of survival and resilience, the ability to bounce back big after the most inconceivable misfortunes. At times funny, at times very dark and a few 'kiss and tell' stories. Claudia has had an amazing life and as a bonus she shares her way out of alcohol addiction. I will re-listen to this book again.

Read this book!

I'd been looking forward to reading this book for months. Claudia is one of the actresses I most admire. This book is a very intimate look at her life. She talks about her family, her career, her loves and most importantly her battle with alcoholism.

For me the part that touched me the most was when she discussed her descent into alcoholism. She talked about her "monster" the way it would always pull at her low self-esteem. It was interesting to see how her triggers were similar to my own. Claudia has been talking about the Sinclair Method for quite a while now but it wasn't until reading this book that I understood what that meant.

The need to keep drinking once you start is something that plagues alcoholics and something which over the years I've felt from time to time. The constant battle between periods of extended abstinence and then bouts of drinking binges that she talks about is something that I've seen time and time again in people with alcoholism. Often their friends ask how they can go back to drinking. The method in the book is a chemical, a pill that you take before you drink. Unlike other alcohol "cures" this treats the physical addiction; it works on reducing the cravings. It has an 80 percent success rate. It was fascinating to read Claudia's first-hand account of how after taking the pill before drinking the need to keep drinking after that first glass disappeared. It sounds like one of those things that is too good to be true. But considering how much money is made from the recovery industry I think it is probably not in their best interest to promote this method.

To me the latter half of the book talking about addiction and recovery really hit home. But I don't want to give the impression that the book is all about serious issues. Claudia is a very funny woman and this comes across in book. There are many funny stories of her experiences working on different shows (and some stories about the misogynistic tendencies of famous actors you will really shocked by)! as well as some very funny stories about experiences with fans.

Claudia is a woman who has experienced loss and suffering but also the life of the rich and famous. Throughout it all she has remained strong and independent. I'm not normally one to enjoy "celebrity autobiographies" but this book is so much more than that. I would very highly recommend this book to all her fans and to anyone, whether a fan or not, who has had their own battles with alcoholism or has a loved one who has.

Her advice worked great for me

Her advice worked great for me! I'm now in an amazing relationship!! I definitely made some mistakes in the book like trying too hard (#4) and not understanding how to handle crucial moments with men (#6). I'm not a bad looking girl, but had a lot of relationship problems. Great modern Management book

There are thousands of books written on the subject of management. But very few are as practical and down-to-earth as Arte's book "The Natural laws of Management."

I have studied, applied and taught the Hubbard(R) Management System for over 23 years. I can attest that whatever your business condition is in, you CAN always revert it or improve it... FAST. Arte has done an amazing job to teach us the fundamentals of management in a way that one can immediately apply the data and principles shared in his book.

I have known Arte for many years and his book is a living example of his dedication to help business owners and people in general. If you want to read a book for the purpose of learning something about management that is easy, directly applicable and fun, read this one. I promise your business will do better FAST!

A great book on how to succeed

The book is appropriately named the "laws" of management. It gives you a guideline to success by giving great examples that demonstrate these rules. If you follow these laws, you can become a great manager.

The book not only quotes these laws in bold type, it gives dozens of successful application examples on how to apply the laws.

The biggest problem with this book is it gives so many useful pieces of information, you can't read it quickly. You have to get out a pad of paper and figure out how to use each chapter.

However, if you invest some time into each part, by the end, you will know how to move to your next level of success. Well worth the cost of the book and your time!

I was familiar with some of the tools in this book but I gained a lot broader understanding on how to use it in my new business and other areas of life.
I feel I truly rekindled my purpose of becoming a successful entrepreneur and it really expanded my horizon.
It a great collection of the right references of L. Ron Hubbard with lots of great examples.
I believe using the data from this book will help my business expansion and the achievement of all of my goals.

To adventurers a magic shop is a place of routine, a place to trade in treasure and stock up on healing potions. However, there are those to whom a magic shop is a workplace, where every ring of the bell above the door brings a customer looking to buy some trinket or other. This game is about these retail workers. Society tends to look right through them, and they don’t have an easy life. This has a lot to do with the history of Pastoria and the nature of the magic trade. The region where Pastoria now stands was home to countless battles fought with ludicrously powerful magic. There are pockets of magical distortions and potentially dangerous artifacts all over the place. Magic items are plentiful, though it takes a certain amount of filtering to find the useful ones. Pastoria also has many more outworlders—visitors from other dimensions—than more distant lands. Society often shuns such people (and other things), but due to the dangers of working in close proximity to a high concentration of magical items, item store owners can’t afford to be too picky about who they hire. Thus, the magic retail trade is something of a haven for those who for whatever reason don’t quite fit into normal society. Based on the random insanity of Maid: The Role-Playing Game, Retail Magic is an RPG about retail employees in the magic item trade. It blends satire of retail work with ludicrous anime comedy action. Roll the dice, and find out that your half-centaur half-pixie paladin started working at a magic shop because of unrequited love, and that when stressed out she tries to hide in a box. Roll for random events, and see a stray cat come to the store, or a ninja attack, or an invasion of angels! The Golden Friday Edition is a special discount pre-release version of Retail Magic. It includes the full rules needed to play, including employee, boss, and store generation, six random event tables, and two introductory scenarios. A touch of chaos is fun

I do love anime of the chaotic sort. Naturally I also love putting a touch of chaos (but chaotic good - not evil calling itself chaotic) into my role playing. Players are never sure what is going to happen next in my adventures. Naturally the Magic Shop from this product will be popping up here and there in my scenarios.

Theresa M Campo DNP, APRN, NP-C is a nurse practitioner in the Quick Care Center of the Emergency Department in Southern New Jersey and is owner and primary lecturer of Farfalla Education LLC. She is an adjunct professor at Case Western Reserve University and The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Theresa has over 16 years experience in emergency medicine as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse. Theresa has lectured nationally and internationally as well as authored articles in peer reviewed journals.

This book was very helpful in minor/basic procedures. Great for a student or a practitioner going into urgent care/ER. Step by step instructions with helpful pictures. I will definitely be keeping this book when I am done school.

Extremely comprehensive but could use more practice questions

This book systematically organizes every GMAT CR question type into "families," with each family possessing its own set of characteristics. Such an organization facilitates a better understanding of each question type because you know what to look for after you finish reading each question. I've gone through the book once already but am going through it one more time to make sure I really absorb the material.

Also, the book actually breaks down the concept of an argument and helps you understand the building blocks of an argument in order to be able to attack any question by following the same rules. There's no discussion of cheap tricks to try to find correct answers. This book is an absolute must if you hope to master critical reasoning on the GMAT. It's especially helpful for people like me who are weak in this part of the verbal section because you are given a step-by-step process for approaching every question. Despite the differences in question types, almost every question can be attacked in a similar manner. So it's good to see a book that focuses on the fundamentals of argumentation.

The only reason I knocked off one star is because this book could use some more practice questions. There are 50 practice questions, but I don't feel like that's enough. This book should be used in conjunction with the Official Guide.

Ultimate Answer to Your Critical Reasoning Needs

==== 2015 UPDATE ====
Powerscore released a new 2015 edition of the book. It has had some updates - several chapters have been completely updated with new overview, examples and new problem sets. Navigation has also been improved. It has grown too by about 70 pages (in part due to having more white space and in part due to content). Not a light book at 370 pages but definitely very very comprehensive overview of pretty much everything. Don't expect to see too much fluff, the book gets right to it. Though after MGMAT has improved their CR book (currently in its 6th edition), I would have given this book 3-4 stars, the latest revision seems to provide a good alternative to the Veritas Prep/MGMAT books.

==== 2009 Review ====
Though pretty similar to Manhattan GMAT book, it offers more practice questions in the book and has a slightly better overview of the Critical Reasoning questions.

~~~ Strengths: ~~~
1. In-depth overview of the Critical Reasoning strategies and approaches to questions
2. Clearly divides the CR question types and provides specific strategy for each type as well as the pitfalls and common errors. You will also get to know how the CR questions are made.
3. Good quality GMAT-like practice questions
4. Created by the authors of the best LSAT books (LSAT logic section is much harder than CR on the GMAT; there is actually a decent amoount of overlap in this book with the LSAT book). Speaking of which, for extra hardcore (and absolutely not necessary but still), you can get the PowerScore LR book (comes with quite a few LSAT questions)

~~~ Weaknesses: ~~~
1. Could use more practice questions (more than mgmat though); you will need to find another source of CR questions such as GMAT Official guide 12 or the verbal supplement to the Official Guide (though the verbal OG has questions on the easier side)
2. Some explanations are too convoluted
3. No tests or online excercises/additional content

~~~~ My Suggestions ~~~~
- Read explanations to every question. Even if you got a question right, it does not mean, you solved it correctly (that is you used the correct approach or found all the shortcusts). You will be surpised sometimes and will pick up helpful tips even from explanations of questions you answered correctly
- Follow the actual strategies (DUH). This is probably the most common mistake people make - they start inventing their own approaches. Don't do it until you have a high verbal score. If you don't, just follow!
- If you don't have any Manhattan GMAT books, you want to get at least one, as each comes with access to 6 online CAT tests (these tests are worth the purchase). There is not a whole lot of value to get both Powerscore CR and MGMAT CR; the content is by large the same.
