A Perceptive Alternate Look at the Meaning of Life and Death

A wonderful insightful book which in the end, was, for me, more about life than death. No mere self-help book, this is a beautifully written, thoughtful insight into the human condition. Recommended for any reader open to alternate philosophical approaches to the meaning of life and death. Filled with golden nuggets galore, this is read that should take some time to read, but only because its contents are too important to scan through. Excellent work from one of the 20th century's underappreciated great thinkers.

Not fun but, perhaps, thought provoking..

Of interest to those who still have faith in the psychoanalytic model. Anticipating and dealing with our own death is an important issue for all. The book is a long and a laborious read. The author could have said as much and been more readable had he been concise and plain spoken.

Epiphanies anyone?

I'm a pretty young man and haven't experienced as much time to think as Becker or the people mentioned in the book, so this might be the reason why I had so many awww and oooo moments. I believe this would be an incredible book to give to those that ponder death or those who worry about if they're doing life "right" or "wrong." I'm really open to new ideas and the denial of death definitely is a book that opens your eyes to a whole new level of understanding!
