About the Author

Tal Ben-Shahar, PhD, New York Times-bestselling author of Happier, taught the largest course at Harvard on “Positive Psychology” and the third largest on “The Psychology of Leadership,” attracting 1,400 students per semester—approximately 20 percent of all Harvard graduates. Ben-Shahar graduated from Harvard with a degree in philosophy and psychology, and for the last fifteen years has been teaching leadership, education, ethics, happiness, self-esteem, resilience, goal setting, and mindfulness. A distillation of psych 1504

I have watched the entire lecture series from psych 1504 on you tube. This short, easily read book distills the wisdom of those lectures into a great source of strength and happiness that can be referred to as often as one likes and whenever needed to bring about a positive attitude adjustment.

permission to be human,learn to fail, and throw the knapsack over the wall are some of my favorites along with the upward spiral of appreciation and gratitude.

Tal, I hope you put together the online masters degree in positive psychology. I have already read many of the books you referenced in class and welcome the opportunity to learn more. I am almost sixty years old, but can still learn new tricks.

Absolutely life changing!

My life changed for the better with every chapter read. to It is amazing!I look forward to every day.My marriage is better.My outlook on life is better.I see things as never before.I am much less selfish.Things that were once chores are wonderful.I am more positive about everything.Moore sure.I have apologized to my family,my husband and soon my friends.I have stopped feeling sorry for myself and blaming others.Has this book caused all this?I don't know,but it certainly helped set it all in motion.I will buy it for others,recommend it and read it again myself.My only regret is that I did not read it sooner.Read it.You will thank me.

I recently had the opportunity to interview Tal Ben-Shahar for our Inspire Nation Show, and WOW does he know his stuff! If you want tools, techniques, and simple ways to be mindful ---and happier--- in each moment, then this is the book for you!

Page after page was another great "Yeah, I want to do that...and I want to do that. And I never thought of that, but it'd be perfect!!!" He truly is an encyclopedia of brilliant ways, scientifically proven, to bring mindfulness and happiness to your life.

This is a book you don't need to read from cover to cover, but can pick up and jump in wherever you're at. So you can keep it on your desk, in your bathroom, a coffee table or whever, and whenver you pick it up, you'll get some great advice...reminders really, to help you stay present, and to make it easier to CHOOSE happiness in this and every moment.

I can't recommend his book enough, and talking with him was a blast. Like his book, you just keep getting another helpful tip, and another, and...
